CUTTABLE BOLTS

KWSz-1 cuttable bolt

Intended use

  • KWSz-1 cuttable bolts are designed for use in roof and ribs support in mine working areas. They can also be used to prevent the roadway floor from heave.
These bolts can be mined along with coal by continuous miner.

Technical description

  • The bolt rod is a plain bar of ø18 mm or corrugated bar of ø17.5 mm made of polyester resin reinforced with glass wool which constitutes about 70%.
The rod is made of polyester resin known under a trade name of "Polimal 161 or 162". Tensile strength of the rod is over 550 MPa, and its bending strength is over 250 MPa.
The rod is made of self-extinguishing material with electrostatic properties.
KWSz-1 bolts can be divided into the following types:
Bolt type Material
KWSz-1g-d Plain bar ø18 mm, wire adhesive mixer ø3 mm
KWSz-1w-d Fluted bar dr = 17.5 mm wire adhesive mixer ø3 mm.
KWSz-1g-k Plain bar ø18 mm, wire adhesive mixer ø8 mm.
KWSz-1w-k Fluted bar dr = 17.5 mm, wire adhesive mixer ø8 mm.
The upper part of the rod is beveled at 45° angle and is fitted with an adhesive mixer. The bottom part has a slot 125 mm in length and a timber wedge which causes the rod to expand and rotate while being glued. The washer rests against the wedge.

  • The washer of 35 x 100 x 150 is made of hard wood (beech, oak, hornbeam).

Technical data

Bolt diameter plain bar d=18 mm
fluted bar dr=17,5
Bolt length 400 ÷ 4000 mm
Bolt capacity required by regulations min 120 kN
Effective bolt capacity 160 kN
Washer capacity required by regulations min 30 kN
Effective washer capacity 35 kN
  • Insert resin cartridges in the borehole. Insert the rod with the washer on into the hole and rotate while pushing allowing the resin to mix.
Leave until the resin has set.
KWSz-1 resin bolt has product safety Certificate allowing the product to be marked with the safety mark No. B/1161/2005 issued by Central Mining Institute in Katowice.
